Interactive Weather Map Reaches Street Level, Continues
SockFace, the weather
SockFace has not been asked to stop swiping.
PNN introduced a fully interactive weather map on tonight's broadcast. Weather presenter SockFace thanked the anchor, described the map as the whole country, and swiped it. The map did not respond to the swipe.
The map then began to zoom in on its own: past the coast, past a town, past a street, to a car park, and to the roof of the building from which this network broadcasts. SockFace announced that the map would now zoom out. The map continued to zoom in. SockFace said the map was now showing this building and that SockFace had not asked it to.
Asked whether anything had been touched, the map's technician, Pip Fenwick, raised both hands and said he was not touching it. The map continued down through the roof. Viewers who stayed to the end will have seen the studio, the desk, and a small sock beside a small map.
The segment was followed by an advertisement for Dunmore's Horizon Outlet, which is now twelve percent further.
I'm not touching it.
Pip Fenwick, map technician
